I don't care for grind so it will be a while, if ever for some titles but the original survivor ( before there was an easy way to get it) was something to work for. Yup, died close and lagged/died but finaly got it.

LDOA is more than 'just' death leveling. Alot of folks give up because its to hard to make the pulls needed for the title. Its actually good training ( even if you don't complete it) for a newer player. I actually enjoyed clearing the shrine and as far as death leveling..meh, not hard once its set up but the setup isn't easy for some folks. A reward earned. Did it with a Necro/Mesmer. Leveled by killing Charr and wiping the shrine ( Nice Bags!) and pulled a few groups before bedtime for more exp in the morning through level 14. Then it was clear shrine, pull groups for 30-40 minutes and wait. Not grindy at all. Oh, had a second pc and account I still played on.

I do see the point in titles that give a game benefit, LB, Sunspear, EOTN race titles, Kur & Lux actualy come with a bunch of useful skills/benefits.

I personally like the title system, but I think about different than some people. They are titles, so there doesn't have to be a "point" to having them. They provide a goal, to help focus my play, working toward that goal.

I think of titles as achievements, in the spirit of how how I think they envisioned.

For cartographer, I don't use the TexMod "cheat" to accomplish it. I actually crawl the borders of every zone, and monitor my "uncovered" progress against a reference "world map" from others that have done it before. There's a defined goal, and I make progress toward that goal just by playing the game. When I'm done, I actually feel like I achieved something! (Hey, what a novel concept! )

For the consumable titles (drunkard, etc), my challenge is not to spend money, but to figure out how to get more of the consumables through the natural course of the game. Festivals and events are the natural choice. Doing the side quests and games for tokens and orbs... Sure, those things are not achievements themselves, but the sum total of all of the effort to get that max title sure is.

And survivor? For me that's a definite achievement, but only because I didn't box (or cheat) my way to the title, but played through the game naturally. So to say that I completed all of Nightfall, Factions, Prophecies, and almost all of the missions and dungeons in EotN without dying, yes, that was an achievement for me!

So for me, there is no grind in titles. I don't feel obligated or coerced into doing them. I don't resent them since I'm not forced to do them. Put another way, I'm not doing anything that I wouldn't be doing anyway, and that's having fun just by playing the game!

So I say, "bring 'em on!"

My favourtite title of all was Drunkard, why because it gave my War char more power through the norn and dwarf skills, same goes for Eotn pve skill/titles. All useful to my char so I liked doing them.
I think tltles are a neccesary part of the game, they give ppl goals. If they werent a part of the game I would have left gw a long time ago.
True grind is hard, to help with this however I just mixed things up. Swapping titles, farming, weekend events, zquests, travellers gifts farming, helping guildies. If you do that you end up accomplishing alot of the titles without even trying and its a whole lot more fun to do.
So I especially like the titles that I think are helpful and to help with the grind I mix it up. Keeps me going

To me, titles are to GW what levels are to other games. Without titles, you only need to level to 20, complete the game, and you are done. ANet needed some way to extend the life of this game without them spending resources in actually creating new content/chapter every 6 months like they were suppose to (thus the game was originally designed with a max of only level 20).

Unfortunately with the KoaBD title track only on a per character basis, people are "persuaded" to play one character at a time. I wish KoaBD would be account wide, so you have different characters having different personality based on their maxed titles. You can have a drunkard monk, a skill hunter mesmer, a Slayer warrior, and a Legendary Guardian Ranger rather than having all these maxed titles in 1 character and being able to display only 1 title at a time.

I kind of agree with this post. ArenaNET can add in all the titles they want! I really couldn't give two flicks about them. I don't care about my EoTN armor, or the Hall of Monuments, and I don't care about whatever this "big bonus" is going to be in GW2. But I really wish and hope that in the next game, a title would just be that: an unnecessary achievement and nothing more. When they started to force in titles just to progress through the game (e.g., Sunspear and Alliance faction; to a degree, EoTN reputation to get armors, etc.), that just boiled me to no end. I hope for the love of God they don't do it in GW2. It slows the game down to a dead stop and, IMO turns it into a chore instead of fun. If people like grinding those points, all the power to them! But don't force it down the throats of others, especially when this game was heralded to be a minimal-grind, skill > time game. x__X Keep it optional!

don't like them=don't do them
Um...no, where do you get that? I don't go for titles I don't like, and I'm not whining about any of them. I'm simply stating my opinion and am asking for others to do the same. I don't know where you thought I was title frustrated - if I was, I wouldn't have even tried to max anything. I enjoy the titles as it adds something else to the game, since you can only go through the game so many times before it gets boring and repetitive.

As for those of you saying the Zaishen title just shows you're rich, I have to disagree. While several people may buy their keys, there are some like myself who just use the ones they get from the XTH or Balthazar faction. I stopped after level 3, as that's all you need to get the statue in the Hall of Monuments. I'm not going to buy any more to get to rank 6 when what I get out of the chest isn't worth half as much as the keys. Any keys I win will be sold.

I completely agree. When I first got Nightfall and it said to reach a certain Sunspear rank, I was like what the...? And to be honest I'm not that fond of missions where if you get masters or experts you get more of a reward even if it's not much. Make titles an option but not required to progress, get armor, etc. Missions, if you want to do the bonus, go nuts but don't get any extra money or whatever for it - it'll just count toward a title. I'm half afraid Guild Wars 2 will be similar to WOW's reputation meter - friendly, honored, exalted, etc. just to get a certain mount, armor, etc. I hope you don't have to be a certain rank with a certain race just to be able to view items, like you have to be rank 5 to get GWEN armor. Just let us buy the armor, no grind required.

Honestly, I hated the titles when they were first introduced. I still do, in a way. The single-character focus of most of the titles pretty much ensured that I would never get anywhere near max on any of my 10 characters. The ones that are account-based are way too high for any hope of that, either.

However, I have been compelled to stick to one character since the HoM and GW2 announcements, so I figured why the hell not. So, after a year of focusing on my necro (first and most developed character anyway), I'm now at 8 max titles. 4 of those were just from playing the game (Elonian Vanq, Canthan Protector, Asuran, and Suspear), the other 4 are the skill hunter titles.

I really had a lot of fun with skill hunter, the first set of titles I actively went after. So far, it is what I consider the best and non-grindy, since you're constantly hunting after a different boss in different areas. I'm about halfway done with vanquishing Cantha and Tyria, which is also non-grindy and kinda fun. Protectors and Guardians are the titles I'm going after now, but not really for fun or for the title, just for a sense of completion.

It would be nice if there were actual rewards for max titles - nothing game-changing or anything, just some gold or weapon/armor skin unlock of some kind. Otherwise, just a title or another number added to KoBD is really lame. Oh wait, GW2, right? Would be nice to know what we're getting for this... probably crap.

I've done all the titles that don't take an ungodly amount of time or points. I'm looking at you Luxon/Kurzick, Party/Alcohol/Sweets, Treasure Hunter, Wisdom, etc.

You just need lots of patience and tiny bit of dedication to get them all. It is not hard to max all the PvE titles but you simply get burn out easily in the midst of doing so.

Don't get obsessed to have max titles, I am at 23 max atm, took me since when titles were born, so quite a while. It's not like I can't max them all, if you prepare well and know your stuff you will roll through anything in PvE, but Vanquishing is just really sucky to do all day, which is why I do one area every 1-2 days (finished Factions last year, I just love that continent, working on Proph now). All I can say is, if you're having fun while doing it, does it matter how you accomplish it? A game is made for people to enjoy it, and if titles give people a goal, all the better. And for the people saying Zaishen rank is for pve scrubs, do you honestly think everyone sells the keys, or even buys the title? I am currently r6 Zaishen, and I didn't buy a single key, I just love PvP and get a lot of faction. Still, it should have been a gladiator title based emote, sigh.

There are currently 44 seperate title tracks in the game, and while many are pointless they provide something to do in GW other than sit around and talk all day. Below are the list of titles I find helpful.

-Wisdom
While expensive each rank increase the % chance of retaining an item after salavge, except for expensive items I rarely bother using perfect kits as my max treasure + wisdom provide a high enough chance of retainment

-Teasure
For the same reason as wisdom

-Lucky
This title may seem like alot of grind but in essence is done mostly AFK in rings, each rank increases the chance or retaining a lockpick from use.

-Sunspear & Lightbringer
Maybe some of the ultimate grind in the game, but what Imbagon would be complete without TntF, and why would people require max rank Lightbringer in DoA if it was just a pointless grind?

-Kurzick/Luxon
Since the introduction to DTSC and other FFF's these titles have become much less of a grind, the skills associated with these titles make them well worth getting, SY, SoL to name a few.

-EotN Titles
I hate to say it but Ursan made everyone "Pro" And thanks to skills like PI,EBSoH,Finish Him, YMLaD, list continues... PvE is a joke, so don't tell me these titles are pointess

The worst titles in the game are listed below

-Commander
Far too easy to exploit, and spamming 1-2-3-4-5-6 on your assassin bar doesn't make you pro

-Cartography
Huge waste of time for little to no benefit, 95% of the people who go for this title use Texmod anyway. What's the fun in running around scrapping edges of maps?

-The "Money" titles, Sweet/Party/Ale
1. I don't get why they are called money titles, just look at Z Rank, Wisdom,Treasure, Luck/Unluck, Skill Hunter (If Tomed), and heck Hero if you buy fame lolz
2. Waste of money
3. They take no effort to get, some might argue clicking 10,000 times is harder than earning 1000k for sweet tooth.

Some titles are undervalued...

Glad Rank, everyone seems to say Glad rank is worthless because it can be farmed in RA. I disagree while you can consistently get 10 wins in Inter RA you will be making a max of 12 glads an hour. Assuming you win every match and make it to 10 then restart @ 15 min per 10 win. The only people with g8/9+ are those who play in Euro TA or Inter TA. Playing a monk in TA is alot alot harder than Channel tanking in HA.

Zaishen Rank, most seem to think people with Z rank are "noobs" because the title can be bought, but hello?? What title can't (besides like gamer) The only people with high z rank are Pro Traders, or Pro HA/GvG'ers. Noobs don't have high z rank. There are plently more "Ebay Noobs" with bought r9-12 accounts and bought polar bears than there are with high z rank.

LDoA
Just cause you gotta be epic pro to not randomly DC while death leveling, I gave up after 3 hours.

Yeah, that's just you.

I don't particularly care either way about titles, it's up to the player if they want to grind them - except the ones with impacts on gameplay, which I think are retarded. This game doesn't need grind-4-power nonsense.

Well look at it this way, if there weren't any titles a lot of people would not be playing anymore, a lot of people would not be running dungeons, missions, quests etc and basically the game would die.

I like titles which indicate a level of experience and basic accomplishment at the game.

This means:

Leg. Guardian
Leg. Vanquisher
Leg. Cartographer
Leg. Master of the North

Even if it doesnt mean you are god of GW if you have these titles, it means you know whats going on.

My main has 32 titles maxed and 3 other near completion (no survivor or LDoA for her because of pre-Factions creation so 35 will be the max of maxed titles for me). I don't hold titles in high value as such, they are just a convenient progress indicator and something that can be worked on leisurely whenever there's nothing better going on and it feels like fun at that moment.

The entire point of money titles is to show that you're not short on spare change and can just waste some millions.

To those who say that titles are a measure of tenacity ... I believe that there are time honored IRL traditions like sitting naked on an anthill to display that to others but it doesn't necessarily mean that it is fun (to the one displaying, in any case).

titles add nothing to the game but they give you something to do when your bored.26 maxed only tedious ones left so ive stoped.Wheres the fun in the drunk/party title or the repetitive grind of kurzik/luxon,it was boring enough grinding eye of north titles to get leg master of north
